Welcome to

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Council of Upper Pinellas County

 What We Do

The  St. Vincent de Paul Council of Upper Pinellas County, includes the SVdP Community Kitchen and Resource Center (previously known as “the Soup Kitchen”), the SVdP Thrift Store, as well as the SVdP parish conferences at All Saints, Espiritu Santo, Light of Christ, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Catherine of Siena, St. Cecelia and St. Michael the Archangel.

Our Community Kitchen and Resource Center provides hearty meals, emergency supplies, showers, laundry, and senior services and mail services to those in need in downtown Clearwater. We also provide programs and services that lead clients to employment and/or housing in coordination with our community partners.

Our parish conferences provide assistance with rent, utilities and food for our neighbors in need.

If you or someone you know needs our help, please ask up.  You need not be Catholic to receive assistance.

How it started

Founded in 1833 in Paris, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) was created as an extension of the Catholic Church to serve impoverish residents living in the slums.  In 1945, the Society came to the United States and quickly grew to feed the homeless and hungry.

365 days a year volunteers show up to serve!  More than 80 individuals donate their time – just a few hours weekly – in a variety of positions.

Their generosity means that we can provide the care and support to give a “Way Home” out of being homeless.
